I am in the midst of my own synopsis-writing for my fantasy novel (and it's going...eh). I'm using these articles to help me get it done, and I'm sure you'll find them really useful:
Jeff Gerke's "For The Synopsis-Challenged"
Camy Tang's series of posts: Story Sensei: SYNOPSIS
Anne R. Allen's "Writing the Dreaded Synopsis"
Fiction Factor's "Mastering the Dreaded Synopsis"
SFF Online's "How To Write A Synopsis: FAQ"
And if you wan't to know what one looks like, here's eHarlequin's Sample Synopsis and one from P&E. Also, see these synopses at Charlotte Dillon's excellent site: Each synopsis did its job, since each story sold!
